Born in Tehran in 1984, Faezeh Nikoozad has been living in Germany since 2009, and is a freelance filmmaker and video artist. She studied Stage Design in Tehran and earned both a BFA and an MFA in Film at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg (HFBK Hamburg).
With mediums ranging from experimental film, documentary film and mixed media, her work covers a spectrum of themes such as displacement, absence, homeland, family and childhood memories. Her short films have been presented and celebrated in film festivals internationally, including the 2018 VIDEOFORMES Award in Ville de Clermont-Ferrand, France. In 2019, her graduate film, Missed Embrace, was awarded with the HFBK Berenberg Film Award.
Currently based in Hamburg, she is a recipient of the Claussen-Simon-Stiftung scholarship.
